TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. The “Makan Culture” contest (the “Contest”) is organised by Mediacorp Pte. Ltd. (“Mediacorp”).

2. By participating in the Contest, participants agree to be bound by and to comply with these terms and conditions and any other mechanics, rules, terms or conditions applicable to the Contest (including but not limited to those specified on sg60makanculture.sg (the “Contest Site”), as specified by Mediacorp from time to time (collectively, the “Terms and Conditions”). Non-compliance with or breach of any of these Terms and Conditions may disqualify a participant at any stage of the Contest, and any prizes won may be forfeited, withheld, withdrawn or reclaimed.

3. Contest Period

3.1 The Contest (“Contest”) will be conducted from 23 May 2025 at 0000 hours to 18 July 2025 at 2359 hours (the “Contest Period”), and will be carried out in two (2) distinct phases as set out below:

3.2 Phase 1: Nomination Submission Begins on 23 May 2025 at 0000 hours and ends on 20 June 2025 at 2359 hours (“Nomination Period”). During this phase, participants may submit nominations in accordance with the terms specified below.

3.3 Phase 2: Voting Submission Begins on 4 July 2025 at 0000 hours and ends on 18 July 2025 at 2359 hours (“Voting Period”). During this phase, participants may cast votes for shortlisted entries from Phase 1.

3.4 Lucky Draw
The lucky draw will be conducted on 24 July 2025, (or such other date as may be determined by Mediacorp in its sole discretion). Each submission of a nomination, as well as each vote cast for a shortlisted entry, will be entitled to one chance in the lucky draw in accordance with the terms specified below.

4. Eligibility

4.1 The Contest is only open to Singaporeans and Singapore permanent residents who are residing in Singapore, and who are aged 18 years old and above as of the date of participation in the Contest. Participants below 18 years old shall be required to obtain the consent of his/her parent or legal guardian.

4.2 The following persons are not eligible to participate in the Contest: (a) employees of all companies in the Mediacorp group of companies (“Mediacorp Group”) and immediate family members of such employee(s), and (b) the employees of sponsor(s) (if any) and their immediate family members. Winners may be required to sign a written statement confirming their eligibility and submit relevant supporting document(s) before being eligible to receive any prizes awarded.

4.3 Mediacorp reserves the right to determine eligibility of the participants at its sole discretion.

5. Contest Entry (Phase 1: Nomination Submission) 5.1 Participants will be required to submit a nomination (the “Entry”) of their favourite food stall or eatery based on the shortlisted twenty dishes as indicated on the Makan Culture website.

5.2 Each participant is permitted to nominate a minimum of one (1) and a maximum of six (6) stalls per dish, for up to six (6) dishes per Entry, selected from the official list of twenty eligible dishes.

5.3 Each participant may submit multiple Entries over the Nomination Period but is capped to submission of one (1) Entry per unique email per day.

5.4 Each Entry submitted is subject to review and approval by Mediacorp. Each approved Entry (which for the avoidance of doubt is limited to submission of one (1) Entry per unique email address per day), shall be entitled to one (1) chance in the lucky draw.

5.5 All Entries must be received within the Nomination Period, i.e. no later than 20 June 2025 at 2359 hrs.

5.6 Participants must ensure that their Entries comply with the following: (a) must not contain any words that are intended to harm any third parties or Mediacorp, or words of a lewd, violent and/or malicious nature; (b) must not infringe any intellectual property or other third party rights;

(c) must be original and not created or produced with any input from AI tools; (d) must not contain any personal data; (e) must not contain any potentially harmful content, including unauthorised computer programmes or viruses; and (f) must not violate any applicable laws.

5.7 Mediacorp reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to disqualify any Entry or request for participants to make revisions to the Entry for resubmission, if Mediacorp determines that an Entry is not in compliance with any of the Terms and Conditions, or which Mediacorp considers to be inappropriate or unsuitable for the Contest.

6. Contest Entry (Phase 2: Voting Submission)

6.1 Each participant is permitted to vote for a minimum of one (1) and a maximum of six (6) stalls per dish, for up to six (6) dishes per vote entry (“Vote Entry”), selected from the shortlisted top ten dishes and their top 6 stalls per dish category as indicated on the Makan Culture website.

6.2 Each participant may submit multiple votes but is capped to 1 Vote Entry per unique email per day. Each Vote Entry shall be entitled to one (1) chance in the lucky draw.

6.3 All Vote Entries must be received within the Voting Period, i.e. no later than 18 July 2025 at 2359 hrs.

7. Luck Draw Winners 7.1 Winners will be notified via direct messaging, mobile or email, or if that is not possible, winners will be published on the Contest Site. There are 6 prizes of $600 cash that will be awarded to 6 individuals in total. These winners will be chosen at random from the collective pool of entries across the 2 phases stated in the Contest Period.

The lucky draw will be conducted on 24 July 2025, Monday at 2pm at Foreword Coffee (1 Stars Avenue, #03-02, Singapore 138507), or at any other time or venue that Mediacorp chooses. 7.2 Verification of Winners: 7.2.1 Winners who are notified shall be required to: (i) follow all instructions and provide all information required via return email to events@mediacorp.com.sg; and (ii) comply with all instructions specified by Mediacorp in relation to the prize redemption.

7.2.2 Without limitation to the above, all winners may be required to execute a form to declare that they satisfy all eligibility requirements, including but not limited to a declaration that they are not employees of Mediacorp or sponsor(s) of the Contest or immediate family of the employees of Mediacorp or sponsor(s) of the Contest. (ii) all such documents necessary to grant Mediacorp all rights to the Entries in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

In the event that any winners fail to (i) satisfy any eligibility requirements; or (ii) fail to comply with instructions specified by Mediacorp in relation to the prize redemption, Mediacorp shall have the sole and absolute discretion to disqualify that winner and/or select alternative winners.

7.3 Phase 3: Winners Announcement The winners will be announced on 1 August 2025 at 0000 hours (or such other date as determined by Mediacorp) on the Contest Site.

8. Prizes 8.1 In the event that any winner is disqualified and no alternative winners are selected, the prizes will be forfeited and Mediacorp shall have the right to deal with such prizes in its sole and absolute discretion. 8.2 Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and non-cash prizes cannot be exchanged for cash. 8.3 Each participant acknowledges and agrees that the receipt and redemption of any prizes offered shall be subject to the winner complying with terms and conditions imposed by Mediacorp. In the event that the winner of any prize, for any reason, fails to comply with such terms and conditions, any prizes won may be forfeited, withdrawn or reclaimed without any compensation. 8.4 Mediacorp reserves the right to not to award or to substitute, add to or alter the prizes or any other prizes offered without prior notice to the participants. 8.5 Participants acknowledge and agree that all prizes may be subject to such other terms and conditions as may be imposed by Mediacorp and/or its sponsors (if any). Mediacorp shall not be liable for any losses, damages, injury, death or any other claims arising from participation in the Contest and/or any prize. Except to the extent that they may not be excluded by law, no representations, warranties, terms or conditions that are not expressly stated in these Terms and Conditions apply to the Contest nor in respect of the prizes and all implied warranties are excluded, including but not limited to, the implied warranties of satisfactory quality, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose of any of the prizes.

OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS

9. Each participant represents and warrants that all information provided for the Contest are accurate, true and not misleading. Any misrepresentation could result in disqualification and/or the forfeiture, withholding, withdrawal or reclaiming of any prizes won.

10. Unless otherwise stated by Mediacorp, each participant shall be responsible for his/her own expenses incurred by him/her during or in connection with the Contest and no reimbursement may be sought from Mediacorp.

11. Mediacorp reserves the right, without any liability on its part whatsoever, to cancel, postpone, terminate, suspend, end, stop or in any other way cease the Contest at any time without prior notice.

12. Mediacorp’ decision at all stages of the Contest is final. No enquiries, appeals, verbal or written, shall be entertained. The participants shall accept and abide by any and all decisions made by Mediacorp concerning, without limitation, these Terms and Conditions, the rules, procedures and regulations of the Contest, the award of prizes and any other matters relating to the Contest. 13. By participating in this Contest, participants consent and agree that their personal data may be collected, used, disclosed and/or processed by Mediacorp for the purposes of the Contest, including any publicity and promotion of the Contest.

14. Participants agree that Mediacorp may use the names and images of the participants, including the photographs or audio, video or other recordings of the participants (“Materials”), for promotion of the Contest across all media, including without limitation in Mediacorp’s properties, without further notification, remuneration or compensation; and the copyright and all other intellectual property rights in and to all Materials shall vest solely and absolutely in Mediacorp.

15. By participating in this Contest, each participant agrees to take part in any promotional or publicity exercise as may be conducted by Mediacorp in connection with this Contest and each participant hereby irrevocably and unconditionally grants Mediacorp all consents and waivers necessary for Mediacorp to record and use the participant’s performance(s) and appearance(s) in any manner as Mediacorp shall in its sole discretion deem fit. Each participant acknowledges that Mediacorp shall be at liberty to publish and otherwise use any recordings made by Mediacorp, including without limitation telephone recordings, audio recordings, video recordings and photographs (if any), for promotional and publicity purposes or any other purposes as Mediacorp deem appropriate (whether now or in the future). Mediacorp reserves the right to disqualify any participants in the event that the participant refuses or fails to participate in such publicity for the Contest.

16. Participants shall not, without the prior written approval of both Mediacorp, speak to the press or any other media nor give any interviews or comments relating to the Contest.

17. Each participant expressly acknowledges and agrees that Mediacorp shall not be liable for any losses, damages, injury, death or any other claims arising from participation in this Contest and/or any prize. Except to the extent that they may not be excluded by law, no representations, warranties, terms or conditions that are not expressly stated in these Terms and Conditions apply to this Contest or the prizes and all implied warranties are excluded, including but not limited to, the implied warranties of satisfactory quality, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose of any of the prizes.

18. Each participant shall indemnify and keep Mediacorp and its related/affiliated companies, officers, agents and employees (the “Indemnified Parties”) fully indemnified against any and all loss, damage, claims and costs (including legal costs on a full indemnity basis) suffered and/or incurred by any of the Indemnified Parties as a result of the participant's breach of any of these Terms and Conditions.

19. Mediacorp may at any time freely assign any or all of its rights, benefits and interest and/or transfer any of its obligations or liabilities arising out of these Terms and Conditions to any party without notice to or consent from the participants. 20. Mediacorp reserves the right to amend or vary any of these Terms and Conditions without prior notice to any participant.

21. These Terms and Conditions and the Contest shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore. Any disputes in relation to these Terms and Conditions or the Contest shall be referred to the courts of Singapore.
